Orientation: I’m going to go ahead and assume Axel is bi, simply because it’s never really made clear what his sexual orientation is in the games (in fact, because he has no heart, he doesn’t actually “love”). Although, seeing as how he’s overly attached to Roxas and outwardly complains about how confusing women are, he might in fact swing a little more with men.

Personality: Axel is really a hard guy to decipher. His personality is a complete mystery simply because it’s always changing. Throughout the series, we see him as the double agent, the manipulative puppet master, and of course, the dependable best friend. When his character is first introduced, everything about him seems somewhat unsettling. He portrays the nonchalant semblance of an easygoing guy, and yet, it is apparent that his actions in Castle Oblivion are planned and plotted out piece by piece, winning the trust of both the Organization and the traitors, and slowly taking characters out one at a time, almost like a game of chess. Aside the fact that he’s only looking out for himself, his motives remain unclear, and his actions don’t always match up in the way we would first assume.
When he meets Roxas, this merciless attitude of his begins to shift, exposing a side of Axel that even he himself isn’t quite certain about. Befriending Roxas causes him to question his own existence, wondering why he “felt” even without having a heart. His actions become compassionate to a certain degree, and his cold demeanor is unmistakably shaken. Nonetheless, this state of complete selflessness and honesty is difficult for him, and he is hesitant to take either side, conflicted over whether friendship means more to him, or reaching the ultimate goal of attaining a heart. During 358/2, Axel constantly brings up the fact that he is lying to Roxas about his true identity, and when Roxas begs him to tell him, he is unwilling to give in, despite acknowledging him as his best friend. His actions, while contradictory, show that he is struggling to determine what is most important to him, and these strange conflicting emotions are what pull him apart from just any other “nobody”.
Axel also tends to shy away from his own past, referring to his own memories as “baggage”, and constantly trying to change the subject when someone brings it up. Apart from that, he doesn’t really get defensive over much else, rather, there is a very effortless playfulness to him; he is full of sarcasm and almost never takes things to “heart”. He really does value his friendships though, especially with Roxas and Xion, and he’ll go to great lengths in order to protect them. With that being said, his motives in Kingdom Hearts II clearly reveal how much his character has developed. His purpose is no longer to look out for what’s in his best interest, but he cares only about his friendship with Roxas to the extent of willingly sacrificing himself to save the other.
Axel is best described as someone who is difficult to describe. He is everything from a know-it-all and a complete joker, to a cunning, intelligent assassin. While he plays the comrade card to all, there is no knowing what he is really thinking, and he most definitely isn’t willing to let just anyone in. Even though he is a “nobody” – a shell of a person – there is so much depth to his personality that is relentlessly changing in response to his experiences, that he is undoubtedly more complicated than nothing.
Abilites: Axel is a trained assassin who’s attribute is fire. Meaning he can manipulate fire and do anything from creating pillars and circles of flame, engulfing his enemies in fire, creating small explosions…you name it, he’ll set it aflame. He uses two large weapons called chakrams and throws them around to slice and dice, or even to use as shields.
Aside from that, Axel also has the ability to open portals of darkness which allow him to teleport just about anywhere.

Third Person: Axel woke up to the sound of a lawn mower. He had tried to disregard the noise at first, by twisting to his head to the side and covering an ear, but a few moments passed by and he realized something was wrong. His bed wasn’t soft enough. He opened his eyes slowly, squinting all the while at the sunlight and taking in the sight before him. Everything looked so…perfect. It was a tad nauseating to say the least.
“Looks like Xenmas did a little redecorating while I was asleep. Terrible choice in colour scheme but I guess it beats gray and white.”
His attention shifted to his hand, where a jumble of keys laid clenched in his palm. Where had these come from? And why the hell was someone mowing the lawn this early in the morning?
Getting up from his seat, he took another look at his surroundings before turning around to stare at the house looming behind him. He stood still for a moment, briefly contemplating what his best choice of action was and then shrugged, instead making his way over to the door. He’d get answers soon enough. Before he had even reached the front door, he could already see his name neatly written on an envelope, and slowly, walking over, he peeled the package off, raising an eyebrow.
“Oookay, this is gettin’ too creepy for my taste. I think it’s time I take my leave.” He decided he would keep the package and keys, and examine them later when he returned to the castle. He raised his free hand as a gesture to open up a portal, and waited, but nothing happened. A second time, still nothing.
“Talk about a pain, don’t tell me they want me to walk back to the castle… sheesh, this is worse than getting turned to a Dusk.”
